A warm welcome to the official website of the Embassy of the Republic of Namibia in Helsinki, Finland. The website is an indispensable tool in the Mission’s quests to enhance the flow of information and knowledge about Namibia, promote trade, tourism and investment opportunities as well as other services offered to Namibians and foreign nationals in Finland and other countries of accreditation.

Finland and Namibia have long standing relations that started over 150 years ago, when the first Finnish missionaries arrived in Namibia. Finland supported the Namibian people during our struggle for freedom and national independence. We shall remain most grateful for that demonstration of friendship and solidarity.

Currently the mode of cooperation between Namibia and Finland has moved from the traditional grant funding to broader cooperation and both countries agreed to diversify their cooperation and have a partnership where commercial, cultural, political and development cooperation complement each other.

Namibia has got a comparative advantage of preferential access to transport and trade links with the 130 million inhabitants of the sub-region of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Furthermore, markets comprising an additional 125 million within the second trade grouping of the Community of Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). Namibia is also a member of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and as such enjoys duty-free access to these markets.

The efficient deep water harbour of Walvis Bay, a growth point and link into the major road transport corridors into neighbouring countries, including the Trans-Caprivi and Trans-Kalahari Highways, complete Namibia's appeal as a gateway location.

Whether you are a tourist seeking natural splendour in a land of contrast, or an investor seeking rewarding opportunities in a diversifying economy, Namibia will provide you with all your needs and will be a destination that will truly be unforgettable.

This website, however, can only provide you with a glimpse of what Namibia has to offer, and I would thus encourage you to use it as an initial source of information to visit Namibia and experience the land of wide open spaces.
